Alsatian kelsch is a fabric made from linen, cotton or cotton blend, typical of the region. Its distinctive feature is the check pattern created by interlacing blue and/or red threads. Weaver Marlène Abraham and her husband have been weaving kelsch for over 25 years in their workshop-boutique in Sentheim. Both are passionate about Alsace and its traditions. In their workshop, they spin different patterns of this emblematic checked fabric throughout the year, often to order, for decorative purposes (tablecloths, curtains, armchairs). To share their skills with the public, they travel with their portable loom.
