La 14e Fête de la Transhumance de Muhlbach-sur-Munster is organized by the Comité des fêtes de Muhlbach-sur-Munster with the participation of several local associations.
It offers you on Saturday, October 4, 2025 to celebrate the descent of the cows to the farms of the valley, after the stay in the valley.
It invites you on Saturday, October 4, 2025 tocelebrate the descent of the herds of cows to the valley's farms, after their summer sojourn in the heights of the Vosges mountains.
The herds will stop at Muhlbach-sur-Munster, coming from the valleys of Munster, Saint-Amarin and La Bresse. The procession of Vosgiennes, but also Alpine browns and others, promises to be a colorful one: some 200 animals will noisily cross the village streets to the sound of clarines and toupins. You'll be able to join them along the way.
This day of festivities is an opportunity to participate in an amazing folk show, to celebrate marcaire folklore and traditions and to discover the Vosges breed cows being honored on this occasion.
During the whole day, in the heart of the commune, all around the sports hall, you can enjoy animations linked to marcaire and Vosges traditions.
The most courageous will be able to follow the descent of the cows from theGaschney resort car park with the Firstmiss farm inn, the rendezvous is set at 1pm. Beware there will be no shuttles to get you there. Once the descent is complete, walkers will be able to join the festival to enjoy its many entertainments.
Programme 2025: 9:30 am: Ecumenical celebration with choristers, alp horns and Hautes Chaumes ringers in the Protestant church of Muhlbach-sur-Munster.
10am and all day: entertainment in and around the sports hall, the Schlitte museum (visit €3 and in front of the stadium. You can wait while discovering some 70 stalls of artists and craftsmen: woodworking, clogmaker, saddler, craft club, earthenware objects, folk costume making, farm equipment exhibition, presentation of the Vosges breed, distillation. Market of local regional products: cheeses, charcuterie, breads, syrups, honey and jams, fruit juices. Children's animations
From 10 a.m.Musical entertainment by various groups: Cors des alpes, folk dances...

Dogs are welcome, but please avoid approaching the herds with your four-legged companion, as this could disturb the cows.
At 11:30 a.m.: Munster soup tasting in front of the Schlitte Museum and Catering available along the route. On the Menu: * Complete marcaire meal: Salad pie, Smoked collar, roïgabraggeldis, Trio of valley cheeses and Dessert (blueberry tart or siasskas) - 27€ / person - lunch and dinner on reservation * Country menu : Assiette montagnarde with assorted charcuterie and cheeses, crudités, roïgabraggeldis (stewed potato), Dessert (blueberry tart or siasskas) - 27€ / person - evening only on reservation * Local dishes to choose from, such as: Salad pie, peasant sausage, potato salad, smoked collar and roiggabraggeldis, salad, siasskas (fresh cheese of the day) or tart.
The meal will be enjoyed on site in the sports hall or under the various marquees hosted by local associations. You'll be able to sample real marcaire menus, and cheeses and charcuterie crafted at an altitude of 1,000 meters.
To reach Muhlbach-sur-Munster, the train from Munster is your best ally: fast, convenient and with no parking worries! Please note, however, that this year the festival parking lots will not be open to motorhomes.
