Yet everyone kills what they love
To create this show, Camille Mutel went out to meet local people to discover the rituals that are often part of their rural heritage.
She transforms peasant rituals, in particular those of killing to feed oneself - "gathering the living" - into choreographic acts, honouring them as part of a cycle that runs from birth to death, including the act of caring. The two dancers, at times hunters, gatherers or sowers, at times beasts, weave a tenuous relationship with the animal, plural and respectful. Sometimes executioners, sometimes accomplices, wild or tamed, they create a space as they pass through, marked by their imprints and traces. The scenes are composed like so many variations that salute the possibility of renewal, metamorphosis; the animal and its potential for resurrection. An autumn ritual as powerful as it is delicate, paying homage to animals and living things.
