Festival International de Colmar - Trio Fratres: Amazing trio with saxophone
Trio Fratrès
With their unusual line-up (violin, saxophone and piano), the artists of the Trio Fratrès explore repertoires – classical and popular – in a constant dialogue, forging links between musical worlds and landscapes.
Here, jazz has earned its spurs, whether it be the famous Bœuf sur le toit by Milhaud, The Threepenny Opera sous by Weill or Porgy and Bess, in which Gershwin focuses on the African-Americans in South Carolina at the beginning of the last century, or even the songs of Rudy Wiedoeft or Duke Ellington, these melodies are snapshots of the life of ordinary mortals...
A gourmet dive into the highly sensitive world of the saxophone!
Program
Darius Milhaud, Le Boeuf sur le toit, Fantasy op. 58
Rudy Wiedoeft, Vanity Waltz
Fats Waller, Bye Bye Baby
Maurice Ravel, Blues (extract from the Sonata for Violin and Piano)
Duke Ellington, In a sentimental mood | Jubilee Stomp
Francis Poulenc, Suite after L'invitation au Château
Kurt Weill, Two ballads (No. 3 and No. 5) from the Seven Pieces after the Threepenny Opera: Ballade vom angenehmen Leben - Zuhälterballade
George Gershwin, Porgy and Bess-Suite, Introduction - Summertime - It ain't necessarily so - Bess, you is my woman now Colmar resafestival@tourisme-colmar.com
