concert The Speakeasies Swing Band

Add to my calendar Europe/Paris concert The Speakeasies Swing Band The Speakeasies Swing Band is an amazing musical phenomenon to kick-start this year’s Music & Culture Festival. This group of musicians and singers formed almost by accident, ten years ago, in Greece, and has been a runaway success in South-East Asia as well as ‘old’ Europe. The band plays and sings a style of music that takes the audience back to the old days of American prohibition, a time of shady, underground bars and the mafia’s grip on criminal activities. “Speakeasies” was the commonly used name to sneakily refer to these illicit bars! After starting out performing pseudo comedy routines in a few bars in Thessaloniki, in 2009, the group quickly tasted success, initially in the local area, then throughout Greece. They went on to headline numerous alternative festivals worldwide, with their appealing, nostalgic music, where swing and blues and Dixieland go perfectly together. Their hit record, “Bathtub Gin”, is a fine example and gives a little wink to this history. Colmar info@tourisme-colmar.com
