Descriptif lieu

It is in partnership with FRANCE-CARTOONS, the Cannes Cartoons association, the Rencontres Internationales du Dessin de Presse and the Fidep of the Festival International du Dessin de Presse de l'Estaque, that the association Le Crayon has created this bilingual exhibition in French and English. The travelling exhibition was proposed to the museum by one of the participants of the exhibition, our local press cartoonist, Phil Umbdenstock. It was originally intended to be presented to the association Espoir, but this project could not be carried out due to the pandemic. On the theme of ecology and the environment, and species threatened with extinction, 234 international press cartoonists and caricaturists have committed themselves to the planet and their works are presented on 24 kakemonos measuring 2 m high and 1 m wide. Each kakemono focuses on a theme: a global issue, air, water, earth, fire, forests, biodiversity, global warming, etc. This exhibition has already been presented in 2020 in Ramatuelle (83) (July) and Marseille (October) and in 2021 in Gassin (83) (March) and Cannes (May) on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day. The works are presented from 6 to 21 August in the museum's conference room and then visible in the form of a circuit in the museum's collection rooms until 16 October. If the weather is good, they will be visible in the museum's courtyard in free access as part of the Science Festival on Sundays 9 and 16 October from 2 to 6 pm. If the weather is bad, the exhibition will take place in the porch or in the museum.
