Descriptif lieu
Albert Schweitzer, theologian, philosopher, musician, humanist and above all doctor, was born in Kaysersberg, at number 124, rue du Général de Gaulle, on January 14, 1875. This famous Alsatian spent his life going back and forth to Lambaréné, a town in Gabon, to build a hospital. The museum, adjacent to the house where Schweitzer was born, traces the doctor's work in the hospital in Lambaréné, a town now twinned with Kaysersberg. In this museum, built in 1981, are exposed photographic documents retracing the evolution and the enlargement of the hospital buildings, as well as some personal memories of Dr. Schweitzer. The adjoining house has been converted to add exhibition rooms.
